About this ledger
Portfolio is a free, open chronicle of the working web, maintaining a filed record of 832 sites across twenty-two named sections. Each entry was submitted by an operator and entered into the chronicle at the date of receipt — no editorial ranking is applied and no payment is required to appear. The record is organised by trade section: from betting houses and dental clinics to software vendors and travel agencies, the chronicle covers a wide cross-section of the working internet. - Portfolio is a free, open chronicle of the working web. It holds a filed record of 832 sites across twenty-two sections, each submitted by an operator and entered into the chronicle at the date of receipt. The record is maintained without editorial ranking or commercial preference.
- Is filing a site free?
- Yes — filing has been free since the first entry was placed in the chronicle, and there is no plan to change that. One URL, one section, one entry in the record. No account is required and no payment is taken.
- How quickly does my entry appear?
- The entry is written to the chronicle the moment the submission form returns. There is no review queue and no waiting period. The site is on record immediately.
- How are the sections organised?
- The Portfolio chronicle is divided into twenty-two named sections covering the main trades of the working web — from betting houses and dental clinics to software companies and travel agencies. A general section carries sites that do not correspond to a specific named column. Each site is filed against one section only.
- What kinds of sites can be filed?
- Any working site in a trade that corresponds to one of the Portfolio sections. The site must be live at the time of submission and must actually operate in the section it is filed against. Parked pages, redirects to unrelated content, and sites that clearly mismatch their chosen section are not carried into the record.
- Can I file more than one site?
- Yes — each site is filed as a separate entry, against the section that fits that particular site. Submit each one through the standard form. There is no limit on the number of entries from a single operator.
- My submission was not accepted — what happened?
- Either the site was not running at the time of filing (parked, redirected, or returning an error), or it did not correspond to the section it was submitted against. Resubmit once the site is live and the correct section is selected.
- Does Portfolio keep my contact details?
- If an email address is provided on the submission form, it is held against the filing record for operational purposes only. It is not published in the chronicle and is not passed to third parties.
- How do I have an entry removed?
- Contact the Portfolio keeper from a verifiable address associated with the site in question and request that the entry be struck from the record. Entries are removed promptly on confirmation of ownership.
